    Questions parents ask

Everything you might want to know before your first Messy Crafters session in Edwinstowe.

What should my child wear to a messy play session?
Old clothes that can get properly messy, and please bring a change of outfit for afterwards. Aprons are provided but paint, gloop and sensory play have a way of getting everywhere — that's the fun of it.
What actually happens at a session?
Activities are set up before you arrive — paints, sensory trays and craft materials chosen for the session's age range. Children explore at their own pace with a grown-up alongside them, and The Messy Crafters handles all the clean-up afterwards. Each session's page shows its start and end time.
Which ages are the sessions for?
Current sessions are designed for Under 1s and Ages 1–5 and Under 6s. Every session on the calendar shows the age range it's designed for, so you can pick the right one. Babies and children must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or carer.
How do I book and pay?
Choose a date on the booking calendar, pick the session, add your child's name and date of birth and pay securely by card (Apple Pay and Google Pay are supported). You'll get an email confirmation with your booking reference straight away, and your booking appears in your account.
Do I need to create an account first?
No. An account is created for you when you make your first booking. To see your bookings later you sign in with a one-time code emailed to you — there's no password to remember.
    Where are the sessions held?
Sessions run from a home venue in Edwinstowe, Nottinghamshire. Because it's a home venue the full address isn't published online — it's included in your booking confirmation and in your account as soon as you've booked, along with parking and arrival notes.
I'm coming from Mansfield or Ollerton — is that OK?
Absolutely. Sessions are held in Edwinstowe and families regularly join us from Mansfield, Ollerton, Bilsthorpe, Clipstone, Tuxford, Warsop. See our areas page for more.
    Can you do birthday parties?
Yes. The Messy Crafters runs messy play birthday parties (suitable for ages 1–6). Send a quick enquiry from the parties page with your preferred date and rough numbers, and you'll get a reply with availability and prices.
My child has an allergy or additional needs — can they still come?
Please tell us when you book — there's a notes box for each child at checkout — or get in touch before the session so the activities can be planned with your child in mind.
What if I need to cancel or can't make it?
Get in touch as early as you can (email hello@themessycrafters.co.uk). The booking terms on this site explain how cancellations and refunds are handled, and if a session is ever cancelled by us you're refunded in full automatically.
    Will I get a reminder?
Yes — a reminder email is sent 24 hours before your session, on top of the confirmation you receive when you book.

Still unsure? Send a message and we'll get back to you.
